Hello guys, nice to hold this interview with you. How are you doing?
Silenius: Hello, in the moment we are very stressed because right now we are doing the final mix of the new album, which hopefully will be out in a few months. Right now we are listening to the last mix in order to check if anything is perfect or if still something is need to be done.
First of all I would like to ask you about your official website. It has been almost completely down for some months; just a couple of sections seem to work. What happened?
Protector: I am sorry for that, but the problem is a data-base problem, which I could solve but as the recording and mixing process of Summoning is so time consuming I don't find any time at all for this. But as soon as the album is finished I will fix the problem.
As the website is not working there is no recent information about the next album. How advanced is the recording process? Could you calculate an approximate release date?
Protector: For a long time we had some problems with the guitar sound 'cause we needed to get a sound that pleases both of us, but now we finally found the perfect sound for both of us. We want the sound to be loud and agressive, but on the other hand not to mask any keyboard tunes, so we had to find the best compromise and to filter the right frequencies to avoid any collision between keyboards and guitar sound. Now the guitars sound louder and heavier than ever before.
Could you anticipate any exclusive news for Tartarean Desire? Album name? Any song title?
Still we have neither an album name nor any song names (for now we only use some temporary names in order to be able to talk about the songs), but finding names is always the thing we do last, 'cause all other aspects are much more important for us.
In 2003 you released the “Lost Tales” EP. Those two songs are Summoning’s most atmospheric material ever. Will you follow this path with the new album? Or will it be a continuation of the sound of “Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame”?
We always made clear that "Lost Tales" is only a release of old demo songs from times of "Dol Guldur"; it was never meant to be a real album release, this is why we also did not add any guitars to it. Therefore the next CD will definitely not follow any paths of "Lost Tales" but "LMHSYF". This means there will be guitars on it (and even louder ones than on LMHSYF).
Surely there will be some slight changes (the guitars will play in a more floating arpeggio style and the kettledrums will be more complicated), but apart from that we keep our style.
In your last albums you introduced some dialogue samples from movies (Lord of the Rings…). Did you make a formal request to the film company asking for permission? Was it a complex bureaucratic process?
Silenius: To be honest; we did not ask, but as the samples are very short I think it is ok. At least we did not get any problems so far, and I hope you wont tell Them ;-)
I have been searching for Summoning shirts on the Internet and they are quite difficult to find. I only found some with the “Lugburz” picture. In fact I read (if I remember well…) that you were not interested in publishing more shirts. I honestly think that your album covers are beautiful as well as the band logo, and they would look great on a shirt or pullover… Are you considering the possibility of releasing new clothes?
Silenius: Napalm Records made some reprints of Dol Guldur, Minas Morgul and Stronghold and a new edition of Lugburz for the first time. I don’t know if they are all sold or not but if you are interested, Napalm Records is the best to contact.
I am sure that with the release of the new album there will be again a need for old shirts and I am sure Napalm will do some reprints again. <å> Protector: As Napalm Records is fortunately doing all promo stuff and all work for us, we only need to concentrate on music and therefore we are not involved in subjects such as Merchandising.
You both are involved in many bands/projects apart from Summoning, such as Die Verbannten Kinder Evas, Raventhrone, Ice Ages, Kreuzweg Ost, etc. Are any of these bands (or others that I may not have mentioned) releasing any album soon? Do you consider Summoning your main band (and the rest, consequently, as side projects) or do you place all at the same level?
Protector: For us all projects have absolutely the same importance; or better said, the project has the most importance that is most actual. So at the moment Summoning has the top priority for me as I am working for it now; but as soon as I will stop the work for Summoning I will start working for the songs for "Die Verbannten Kinder Evas", then of course this project will have the main priority for me. After that I will finish my already existing "Ice Ages" songs.
What can you tell us about the Austrian extreme metal scene? What are your favourite bands within it?
Silenius: To be honest I don’t follow too much the Austrian metal scene, but of course there are some bands who made their way to the public like Dornenreich, Belphegor and some more.
Protector: I also am not very informed about the Austrian scene so I can only name the bands I personally know which are "Amestigon" (old school black metal) and "Dismal" (progressive Death / Black Metal).
I have heard that the drums for Summoning are not played by a drum machine, but with keyboards. Something like assigning a key for the snare, another for each tom, etc etc. Is this true? Why did you choose this particular method instead of the typical computer one?
Protector: For me it is the most logic way. We are using keyboards for all our orchestral instruments; for strings, for horn, piano etc. Why should we not use it for Drums as well?
I never worked with any drum computers, but as far as I understood it a drum-machine is just a low-level keyboard, reduced to drum sounds, and played with some buttons instead of those piano keys; but a drum-machine is not connected more or less to a computer than my keyboard is, cause I also control my keyboard with midi by my computer.
Apart from Austria, in which country are you most popular? What about the USA? Japan? Do you receive many emails/letters from your fans? Which is the stangest country where you are known to have fans?
Protector: Actually we hardly receive mails from Austria. I think a band of the own country is never so interessting for a person than a band from far away. I think that people can create much more mistery around a band that is far away than other bands. We also hardly get any mails from USA and I think I never got a single Mail from any person from UK.
So the main fan reaction comes from German and Russia. After that contries like Italy, Poland and Turkey follow.
The most unusual country so far I received mail from was IRAN, cause actually I thought that listening to such music is forbidden there, cause of the religious dictatorship.
Silenius: Not to forget Greece; those fans always gave us very fanatical response.
You are one of the most popular bands whose lyrics are inspired by Tolkien. Which other bands with a similar approach do you like?
Silenius: Of course Falkenbach; also this band has a total different concept. There are a lot of similarities, such as long epic melody lines nearly no breaks, very few bandfotos, no rockstar image.
I guess you will have been asked about it so many times, hehe, but, what’s your opinion on Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy?
Silenius: A perfect translation of the books, as far as the books are translatable. All those people who mock that Peter Jackson did not a 1:1 translation of the book should shut up because that is simply not impossible so he did the best he could, each character has turned out very carefully and the whole world turned out just the same as I imagined it while reading the books.
This movie has spread Tolkien’s fame all over the world to the level of trend. Do you think this benefits Summoning?
Silenius: Maybe, maybe not. I don’t know, but all in all I think those who did not like fantasy topics before won't like it after having seen the film or listening to a summoning CD is the same if I watch a star wars movie: Of course I think it is great when I watch it, but I would not start to read science fiction books or listen to CDs which have a robotic or war machine flair.
Now that we are approaching the end, a more personal question. What is a normal day in your everyday life like? What are your hobbies apart from music and literature?
Protector: Apart from my job I am doing a regular job as programmer, 'cause the money we get from summoning is only enough to pay half of a rent of an average flat in Vienna. We would have to sell 100 times more records to be able to live from that and we actually aimed for this or wasted any thoughts on it.
So apart from the bands I am involved in spend my time with my girlfriend and go sometimes out in order to meet friends. I also play a lot of oriental percussion (Darabukas) in my freetime, so that I don't loose the connection to real hand made music ;-)
I'd like to leave this kind of quest for the end. I will tell you a proper name (place, band, person, etc) and you just have to give your opinion:
Pungent Stench
Silenius: Martin is a good friend of mine. We did together the Kreuzweg Ost Project, meanwhile I don’t see him to often anymore because he is always on tour but up and thn we go on a beer and talk about the latest news.
Alf Poier
Silenius: Not my cup of tea, but his anarchic humour has its own style within the Austrian comedy scene and I was very surprised when I saw him once with his girlfriend at the death in june concert.
Adolf Hitler
Protector: A narrow minded fanatic who put so much damage to his country and the world. He created a system where people only had to obey and any individuality was forbidden, and only art he considered as art was allowed. I really whish that any of those NSBM bands could live a single day in the III Reich and try to make their music there, so that they finally could see what shit is going on in their heads;-)
Bal-Sagoth
Silenius: In former times some people compared their music with ours, but I don’t see to much similarities and to be honest I am not very familiar with the music.
The EU
Protector: I am no EU fan and in the past I voted against it. It more and more turns out to be only a organisation for the richest people in the world, whereas all others don't have any advantages about it. Things just get more and more expensive due to it.
Neptune Towers (Electronic ambient project from Fenriz from Darkthrone)
Silenius: Somehow I like both releases. This deep space ambient music reflects very good the topic and it was very brave of Fenriz to release them because I don’t think too much black metal fans are into this kind of music.

_.اول از همه چیز مایلم ازتون درباره ی وب سایت تون بپرسم.مدت زیادی بوده که فعالیتی نداشته برای چند ماه...فقط بعضی قسمت های اون به نظر می رسه که کار می کنند.چی شده؟
S...: متاسفم به خاطر این موضوع.مشکل اینه که پایگاه داده ها مشکل داره که من می تونم حلش کنم اما نگارش و آمیزش جریان و کارSummoning مدت زیادی هست که تحلیل رفته.من وقتی برای تمام این کارا پیدا نکردم.اما به زودی که آلبوم بیرون خواهد آمد من این مشکل رو حل می کنم.
_به خاطر این که وب سایت کار نمی کنه اطلاعات تازه ای هم در مورد آلبوم جدید نیست.چه قدر کار ضبت پیش رفت کرده؟می تونی حساب کنی که تقریبا کی بیرون می آد؟
S...: مدت زیادی بود که با صداهای گیتار مشکل پیدا کرده بودیم چون ما صدایی از اون رو می خوایم که هردومونو راضی نگه داره اما در حال حاضر یه صدای عالی برای راضی بودن هر دومون پیدا شده.ما می خوایم صداها بلند و پرخاشگر باشه.اما در عین حال بر صدای کیبورد غالب نشه.پس باید بهترین سازش رو پیدا کنیم(بین سازها)و برای صاف کردن و دادن تناوب های مناسب برای اینکه برخوردی بین صداهای سازهای گیتار و کیبورد به وجود نیاد...حالا صدای گیتارها بلند تر و سنگین تر از همیشه هست
_می تونی یه سری اطلاعات منحشر به فرد و خوب در مورد اسم آلبوم به ما( Tartarean desire) بدی؟اسم بعضی آهنگارو؟
_ما نه اسم آلبوم داریم نه اسم آهنگ هارو هنوز(برای حال فقط از یه سری اسم های موقتی استفاده می کنیم برای راحت شدن در صحبت در مورد آهنگ ها)اما پیدا کردن اسم ها کاری هست که ماهمیشه آخر انجام می دیم. چون وضع ظاهری آهنگ برای ما برای پیدا کردن اسم بسیار مهم است
_سال 2003 شما یه EP به نام(Lost Tales)دادید.اون دو آهنگ Summoning بیشتر جومادی داشتند.آیا شما همین مسیر رو برای آلبوم جدید انتخاب می کنید؟یا ادامه ی روشی که برای “Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame?” داشتید رو ادامه می دید؟
_ما همیشه سعی کردیم توضیح بدیم که “Lost Tales” فقط release ای از آهنگ های دموی “Dol Guldur” هست.این به این معنا نبود که ما آلبوم جدید بیرون دادیم.دلیلش این هست که ما به اون گیتار اضافه نکردیم.بنابراین آلبوم بعدی قطعا مسیر “Lost Tales” رو ادامه نخواهد داد اما “LMHSYF” به این معنی هست که گیتار بر روی آون (آلبوم جدید)خواهد بود.(و حتی شاید بلند تر از LMHSYF .
البته حتما تغییراتی انجام می شودگیتار ها بیش تر بر استایل arpeggio خواهد انجام شد و kettledrumsها کامل تر خواهند بود.)
_آلبوم آخرتون قسمت هایی از مکالمه های فیلم ارباب حلقه هارو در بر داشت.آیا شما رسما از کمپانی سازنده ی فیلم اجازه گرفتید برای این کار؟آیا انجام مراحل اداریش پیچیده بود؟
_اگه راستشو بخواید باید بگن نه.اما قسمت های برداشته شده خیلی کوتاه بودند.فکر کنم مشکلی نباشه.حداقل تاحالا با مشکلی در این رابطه روبه رو نشدیم.و امیدوارم شما به اونا نگید ;-)
_ من تو اینترنت دنبال لباسای summoning بودم.و پیدا کردنشون خیلی سخته.فقط یه سری اونم باعکس“Lugburz” بود.در حقیقت به جا خوندم(اگه خوب به خاطرم بیاد...)شما زیاد علاقه مند به انتشار بیش تر لباس ها نیستسد.حقیقتا باید بگم عکس آلبوم ها خیلی قشنگ تر از لوگوی خود بند است.و روی لباس قشنگ به نظر می آن.آیا در مورد امکان انتشار لباس های جدید فکر کردید؟
_شرکت Napalm records چاپ تازه ای از لباس های Dol Guldur, Minas Morgul وStronghold و ویرایش شده ی Lugburz داشته برای اولین بار.نمی دونم که اونارو فروختند یا نه اما اگه علاقه مند هستید Napalm records بهترین ارتباط هست.
من مطمئنم با بیرون آمدن آلبوم بعدی دوباره نایاز به تی شرت های قدیمی هست و مطمئنم Napalm دوباره یه سری کپی از آنها را بیرون خواهد داد.protector:از آنجا که Napalm خوشبختانه تمام کارهای کالایی مارو انجام می ده ما فقط تمرکز بر روی موسیقی می کنیم بنابر این ما درگیر کارهای تجاری نیستیم.
_هردوی شما در گیر بندها یا پروزه های زیادی غیر از Summoning هستید.مثل Die Verbannten Kinder Evas, Raventhrone, Ice Ages, Kreuzweg Ost
و امثال اینها.آیا یکی از این بندها(یا بندهایی که شاید بهشئن اشاره نشده)به زودی آلبومی بیرون خواهند داد؟آیا شما به بند اصلیتون یعنی Summonin رسیدگی می کنید(و نتیجه ی بقیه پروژه ها در کنار این بند قرار می گیرند)یا همه ی آنها برای شما در یک سطح قرار دارند.؟
_برای ما قطعا تمام پروژه ها از یک اهمیت یکسان برخوردارند یا بهتره بگیم هر پروژه اهمیتی بیش از حد معمول دارد پس در حال حاضر Summoning حق تقدم بیشتری برای من داره همچنان که من الان بر روی آن کار می کنم.اما هر چه زودتر که بتونم کار summoning را متوقف می کنم و کار برای آهنگ های Die Verbannten Kinder Evas را شروع خواهم کرد.پس هر پروژه برای من اهمیت و جایگاه خاصی داره.بعد از اینها آهنگ های Ice Ages را تمام خواهم کرد.
_چیزی در مورد exreme متال اطریشی دارید به ما بگید (در مرحله ای که در حال حاضر قرار دارد) چه band ای رو در این سبک ذوست دارید؟
Silenius: حقیقتا زیاد این سبک رو دنبال نکردم البته در این میان بند هایی هستند که مسیری عامه دارند مثل belphegor و Dornenreichو چندتای دیگه.
Protector:من هم زیاد با این سبک آشنا نیستم بنابراین ف5قط می تونم سری بند های شخصی که می شناسم رو نام ببرم مثل(old school BM) Amestigon و بند Dismal(progressive Death/Bm)
_شنیدم که summoning برای نواختن drum از drum machine استفاده نمی کنهو به جاش از keyboard استفاده می کنه مثل اینکه مثلا یه کلید برای انجام درام بر روی طبل ها هست(بهتر از این نشد ترجمه کنم!!!!)آیا حقیقت داره؟چرا این روش به خصوص رو انتخاب کردین به جای استفاده از یه نوع برنامه ی کامپیوتری؟
Protector:این برای من روشی منطقی هست.ما از keyboard برای ایجاد صداهای سازی ارکسترا استفاده می کنیم.برای زه ها.شیپوها.پیانو و غیره.چرا نباید برای درام این کارو بکنیم؟
من هرگز با برنامه ی درام کار نکردم.اما تا آنجا که فهمیدم drum machine یه level از keyboard پایین تره. صداهای درام رو کاهش دادم و به جای کار با کلیدهای پیانو از چند دکمه استفاده کردم.اما یه drum machine بیش تر با کمتر از keyboardمن به کامپیتر متصل و مربوط نیست.چون من keyboard خودم رو با رابط ابزار موسیقی(midi) با کامپیوترم نگه داشتم.
_صرفه نظر از اطریش شما در کجا بیش تر محبوب هستید؟در آمریکا و ژاپن چطور؟آیا نامه و ایمیل های زیادی از طرفدارانتون دریافت می کنید؟کدام شهر شما در میان طرفداراتون یش تر مطرح هستید؟
_اکثرا ایمیل ها رو به سختی از اطریش دریافت می کنم.من فکر می کنم یک bandاز شر ما هرگز برای کسی که دور از شهر و کشور آن bandهست جالب باشه.من فکر می کنم مردم می تونند مشکلات بیشتری در اطراف یکbandکه از آنها دور است به وجود بیارند تا band ای که بهشون نزدیک تره.ما همین طور به سختی از آمریکا ایمیل دریافت می کنیمو فکر نکنم تا حالا یک ایمیل از ایالات متحده گرفته باشم.
بنابراین بهترین عکس العمل رو از طرفداران روسیه ای و آلمانی می گیریم.و بعد از آین دو کشور از کشورهایی مثل ایتالیا.لهستان و ترکیه نام برد.
و از همه غیر منتظره تر ایمیل ای بود که از ایران گرفتم.چون فکر می کردم گوش کردن از جمله به موسیقی در اونجا حرام است.به خاطر حکومت مذهبی خودکامه ای که داره............!!!!(.......)
Silenius:یونان رو یادت نره.طرفداران ما در اونجا همیشه احساسات تعصبی خاصی نسبت به ما دارند.
_شما یکی از bandهای محبوبی هستید که لیریک هاشون تحت تاثیر Tolkien(فکر کنم نویسنده ی ارباب حلقه ها)قرار دارد.چه bandهای دیگری را دوست دارید که کاشون مشابه شماست؟
Silenius:قطعا Falkenbach.این بند روشی جداگانه داره.(یکی از بندهای مورد علاقه اش هست که به نظرش روش خاصی داره). بندهای متشابه زیاد هستند.سطرهای طولانی ملودی های حماسی و تقریبا بدون گسستگی با تعداد کمی عکس از اعضای گروه.نه مثل عکس های ستارگان راک.
_فکر کنم ازت بارها این سوال پرسیده شده بود.(با خنده)اما نظرت در رابطه با peter Jacksons درفیلم lord of the rings در این بازی سه نفره چیست؟
Silenius:بهترین برگردان و انتقال از کتاب.بهتر از اونی که کتاب قابل ترجمه بود انجام شد.....تمام کسایی که می گن بازی پیتر برگردون کتاب نبود بهتره ساکت بشن چون این کار غیر ممکن نبود و ون بهترینی رو که می تونست ارائه کرد در بازیش.هر کارکتر کارش رو به خوبی انجام داده بود و تمام مردم دنیا هم به همون نتیجه ای که من تصور می کنم هنگام خوندن کتاب رسیده اند.
_فیلم با Tolkien در سراسر دنیا شرت تا حد زیادی پیدا کرد.آیا فکر می کنید این از منافع Summoning است؟
_شاید آره شایدم نه.نمی دونم.اما روی هم رفته فکر می کنم کسایی که به دنبال اصل مطلب نمی رند مثل قبل اینکه cd summoning رو بگیرند یا فیلم رو ببینند مثل اینه که من یه فیلم جنگی عالی رو ببینم قطعا من فکر می کنم این فیلم عالیه اما کتاب های علمی افسانه ای و یا سیدی های مربوط به این زمینه رو که خودکار هستند رو گوش ندم.
_به آخر این مصاحبه می رسیم یه سوال که شخصی تر هست ازتون دارم.یک روز زندگی عادی و نرمال در روزها و زندگی شما چگونه است؟سرگرمی های شما صرف نظر از موسیقی و ادبیات چیست؟
_جدا از موسیقی من کار رسمی ام رو به عنوان یه برنامه نویس انجام می دهم و کارم برنامه نویسی هست. چون پولی که از سامونینگ در می آد فقط نیمی از اون برای اجاره مکان برای کار در Vienna صرف می شود.ما باید صد تا آلبوم دیگه ضبط کنیم تا بتونیم مخارج زندگی رو در بیاریم.و ما این طور ارزیابی می کنیم. و فکرمون رو صرف این کار نمی کنیم.
__امیدوارم قبل از رفتن به این سوال پاسخ دهید.من چند تا اسم نام می برم مثل گروه یا شخص یا مکانی و ...و شما عقیده ی شخصی خود را بین کنید.

_مارتین یکی از رفیقای خوب من هست.ما با هم پروژه ی Kreuzweg ost البته اینم بگم که من اونو زیاد نمی بینم چون اکثرا تور می رود.اما موقع ملاقات با هم آبجو می خوریم و از آخرین خبرها صحبت می کنیم.

_ سرگرمی من نیست.اما حالت جالب اون و شیه ی کمدی اطریشی ها رو داره ولی خیلی متحیر شدم از دیدن او و دوست دخترش در کنسرت ماهjune گروهdeath.
Adolf Hitler
_شخصی متعصب و کوته فکر کسی که خرابی های زیادی در شهر خودش و دنیا ایجاد کرد.اون حکومتی اجرا کرد که مردم از دستوراتش پیروی کنند و هویت شخصی را ضایع کند.و تنها اندیشه ی صحیحش جائز دانستن صنعت بود.من فقط آرزو می کنم که این بندهای NSBM در رایش سوم زندگی می کردند و می فهمیدند چه افکار گندیده ای در سرشون دارند.:)

_در گذشته مردم موسیقی هودشونو با موسیقی ما مقایسه می کردند ولی یه نظر من این دو هیچ شباهتی به یکدیگر ندارند.و حقیقتا من در موسیقی چندان وارد نیستم.
THE EU
_ من ازطرفداران EUنیستم و در گدشته رای مخاف بر اون دادم(فدراسینی که در اون مردم اروپا از هنرها و علاقیات مردم حفاظت می کردند)و این بیشتر تولید رفاه و رفع خواسته های مردم ثروتمند رو مینه در حالی که مردم بی پول از این مزایا بی بهره اند.و هر روز گرانی افزایش پیدا می کند.
Naptune towers(electronic ambient پروژه ی فنریز از گروه dark throne)
Silenius-من هردو کارو دوست دارم.این موسیقی عمیقambient بازتاب بسیار خوبی از موضوع دارد و این خیلی شجاعانه بود که فنریز آنهارو ساخت چون طرفداران موسیقی bm زیاد هوادا این سبک نیستند.

Why were there no lyrics included in the CD insert for Angels of Distress?
Music have been always that which is the point in this. These words are more like an enchanter to a certain feelings I've had while writing this music. Anyhow, I wanted this package simple - some art work and music.
It has occurred to me that the new album does not capitalize the letters of the band name or album name, unlike the “Shades of…” album. Additionally, the lettering of the band name is different. Does that mean that there is no trademark logo for the band?
No, there is not. Maybe someday we'll have it, but for now, it changes as much as our artwork and music does. And the logo we had in our first album is very fastly chosen - same goes for artwork.
The first album was very entrancing. It made the listener into lifeless body floating on black water and being carried away. I don’t like to listen to it while driving at night because I find myself suddenly realizing that I have no idea where I am and I can’t remember how I got there. Did you plan to make an album that was so hypnotic? Did you inject theta waves into the mix?
Hope it have worked! Whatever you may call it, be it alpha or theta waves... hmm, good idea - have to check out some frequencies. When we recorded our demo, we just simply played the whole structures
as how we felt. So we haven't had any kind of structures basically. Song structures for Shades of.. have been gathered from this demo and it's been refreshened by of female vocals, flutes, and with more keyboards et cetera. I've always loved music which is simple, repetitive, transcendental. Maybe it have affected my consciousness in composing music.
Are you a friend of the guys in Skepticism?
I met them first time at their live show in here Helsinki a couple months ago and talked a bit with their organ player, but that's it. We discussed about of possible Skepticism/Shape gig, but it's still open. I hope it works out. We should rehearse first, but it's been a bit confusing times now so our rehearsals will be delayed.
The new album is more of a crushing doom, compared to the sweet melancholy of the debut. The guitar does not lull into sadness like a gentle spirit carrying a torn mind soothingly into depths of tears, a level at a time, the way “Shades of…” did; instead, the guitar on the new album is directly mournful and flavored with a bit of aggression. Would you like to talk about the difference in emotion between the two albums?
Well I guess sounds and words may express it much better. And you have to take a look at a concept of this all also. We had a certain idea from the beginning with Shades of... songs that it should be more transcendental, as it is more of an like wandering feeling because of a time I composed those and since it's evolved a lot of an nature inspiring themes. What comes to Angels album, it's a lot more based on your own head. Depression, misanthropy, and most of all, lack of wishing to be alive. It's a good combination to add some aggressiveness into a "beautiful" sounding scenes, as emotions tells it all, banging your head against wall as you would like to exit from all this, while still wondering twice.
The new album was licensed by an American record label for distribution here, and I suppose that it helped to expose you to new listeners even though the doom circle does not need such convenience to enjoy the works of such masters as yourself. Have you been offered record deals by companies that have international promotion, or is music of your dark making too risky a venture?
Yes, Relapse. I have no idea how our 2nd have managed over there. Hope they still release our first album, as what I've noticed, they have ceased to push it forward. I think they have given a better chance, yes, to introduce us for you Americans since we are small and quite unknown to a wider audience. For what I know, our albums have been licensed to France and Russian also. I'm a bit outdated right now of this matter.
Why have you decided not to feature pictures of band members in your cd inserts? Indeed, even your names are mere initials. Why such modesty?
Well, laziness, I think. We really haven't got any need to do so and we don't care too much. There are going to be all those necessities on our next album. It's amazing that we even took any pictures of us.
Judging from the differences between the past two albums, I predict that the next one will surprise me, but in a good way. Can you reveal anything about the direction you will take?
I think I should not. We are still in "should rehearse soon" mood and all the latest changings will happen in studio, so I could give a wrong hint for you. All I can say is, that it may give more than previous one, if you are just willing to let it in.
I regret that I have not heard of you sooner, during your demo days. Is it possible for me to obtain your earlier recordings? I am quite anxious to hear the demo that has the same songs as the “Shades of…” album.
It's quite hard to find our demo, only if you have traded it from somewhere. We don't sell it, and I think that Spikefarm doesn't release it on CD. It is, more monotonous and simple compared to album version - 8-track "studio" tells it all.
What are some musical traps that can destroy a song which you avoid when composing?
What I've tried. Mood is, of course, important.
I enjoyed the albums immensely, but I wonder if you are 100% satisfied with the way the albums sounded. I ask this because you seem to have high standards and I wonder if all of your expectations have been met.
There's much what I would change on Angels album for sounds and more things to add for our first one, but in other words, it's what we've felt that what we want to do on that time, and there they are. I'm sure everyone may babble later something about of what they could've done for their works.
What happened to the last singer?
Moved to Lapland, bored to metal, quitted "singing". Anyhow, he might come and play Kantele for our next album.
Have you been forced to serve in the army?
Civil service.
Is there a prejudice against Russians or Germans over there?
I think not.
When can the world hear new material?
Hopefully in the end of this year. We start to work on it very soon. It looks like there are 6 songs to come

_موسیقی همیشه این طور نشان داده شده.این کلمات بیش تر متل یه افسونگر هستند و این احتمالا احساس من موقع نوشتن آنها بوده.به هرحال من بسته بندی و کار ساده می خواستم.کمی هنر کار و موسیقی
_این اتفاق برای من افتاده که آلبوم جدید معرفی با نام بند یا اسم آلبوم معرفی نشده بر خلاف آلبوم shades of.علاوه بر اون نوشتن اسم بند و حروف گذاری آن متفاوت است.آیا این بدان معنی هست که هیچ مارک تجاری ای برای بند وجود نداره؟
_نه.نیست.شاید روزی داشته باشیم(نامی با حروف گذاری ثابت)اما الان با انجام کارهای هنری ما و موسیقی ما در حال تغییر است.و لوگویی که ما در آلبوم اول داشتیم با عجله انتخاب شد.به همان مفدار هم کار آلبوممان پیش رفت.
_آلبوم اول خیلی شیفته کننده بود.و شنونده رو بدن بی جانی می کنه که انگار شناور هست روی آبی سیاه رنگ و همان طور باقی می ماند.دوست ندارم اونو شبا هنگام رانندگی گوش کنم چون ناگهان خودم رو بدون هیچ تفکری در مورد اینکه الان کجا هستم یا چه طور به آنجا آمدم رو نخواهم داشت.آیا تصمیم دارین آلبومی بسازین که خواب آور باشه.آیا موج خاصی بهش می دین و با آن مخلوط می کنید؟
_ امیدوارم کار کنه. هرچی که می خوای بنامش....یه آغاز یا درآمیختگی(theta ) اوم...فکر خوبیه..یاید از یک سری تناوب ها و فرکانس ها جلوگیری کنم .وقتی ما داشتیم دمو یمان را رکورد می کردیم فقط تمام ترکیب و ساختار را به راحتی نواختیم.اون طوری که ما احساس می کنیم.پس ما نوع خاصی از یک ترکیب اساسی را ننواختیم.ساختار آهنگ های آلبوم shades ofنتیجه ای از این دمو بود و با طراوت تازه تری با وکال زن.فلوت. و کیبورد بیشتر و غیره.من همیشه موسیقی رو دوست داشتم که ساده تکراری و متعالی باشه....شاید هم تحت تاثیر دانسته ها و آگاهی من در زمینه ی ساخت موسیقی هست.
_آیا شما دوست بچه های Skepticism(فلسفه ی شکاکی و بدبینی) هستید؟
_من اونارو اولین بار در برنامه ی لایو چند ماه پیش اینجا در هلسینکی دیدم.و کمی با نوازنده ی ارگ آون صحبت کردم.اما این همش بود.ما درباره ی چرخه و مسیر Skepticism\چرخه یshapeبحث کردیم و اما هنوز ادامه دارد.و امیدوارم که به نتیجه برسد و فکری در این باره بشه.ما در این باره صحبت خواهیم کرد اما الان زمان مغشوش و نامناسبی برای این کار هست پس گفت و گوی ما به تاخیر افتاده.
_آلبوم جدید یه doomشکسته تر و قشنگ تر هست.در شروع با غمی زیبا مقایسه شده.صدای گیتار آرامشی را که باید از آن فضای غمگین را بدست آورد نمی دهد.مثل اینکه عمق سخنان آرامشی به افکار پاره شده و درهم میدهد و مثل روانی با آرامش هست.در طول زمان یکنواختی.مسیر آلبومshades ofداشته.در صورتی که گیتار در آلبوم جدید کاملا عزادار و آرام همراه کمی پرخاشگری هست.می شه در مورد تفاوت بین احساسات موجود در این دو آلبوم توضیح بدین؟
_خوب به نظرم صداها و کلمات شعر بهتر می توانند توضیح بدهند و باید یه نگاه کلی و مفهومی به تمام آن هم بندازی.نظر مطمئن و قطعی ما از اول برای این آلبوم داشتیم که این آلبوم(shades of) باید کاملا متعالی و غیر جبری باشد همچنان که بیش تر مثل احساسات شگفت آور است چون یه دفعه اونها رو ترکیب کردم و از اینرو احساست طبیعی و آفرینش زیادی در موضوع می داد. و کاری که از آلبوم angelsبیرون آمد در مغزت بیس بیشتری داره . depression.misanthropy(انسان گریزی)و بیش تر از همه احساس نیاز به بودن.ترکیب پرخاشگری با صداهای زیبا و احساسات خوب هست.همان طور که احساسات این موضوع رو بیان می کنند.کوبیدن سر به دیوار همان طور که می خوای همه چیز پایان بپذیره.در حالیکه هر دو حیرت آور و تعجببر انگیز است(منظورش دو احساس متناقضی هست که از آهنگ بهت دست می ده)
_آلبوم جدید توسط یه لیبل آمریکایی اجازه ی توزیع در اینجا رو گرفت.و من فکر می کنم این باعث نمایش شما برای شنونده ی جدید کمک می کنه با اینکه تمام زیر بندهای دوم نیاز به چنین تسهیلاتی ندارن که برای کارهای خود نیازی به برخورداری مدیریت داشته باشند.آیا شما پیشنهاد دادین که کارها توسط کمپانی های مترقی توزیع بشه.یا موسیقی تاریک شما براتون ریسک ازخطرهای زیادی رو می سازه؟
_بله برگشت(؟)من نظری ندارم که کار دوممون چه طور اونجا اداره شده.امیدوارم هنوز آلبوم اول رو منتشر کنن.تا اونجا که من می دونم اونا از ادامه ی کار و پیشرفت دست کشیدن.و فکر می کنم اونا پیشنهاد بهتری بدن.بله .معرفی ما به شما آمریکایی ها زمانی که ماخیلی کوچک وناشناخته توسط تداد زیادی از تماشاچی ها توسط آنها صورت گرفت.بررای اینکه می دونم که آلبوم ما از فرانسه و روسیه هم مجوز گرفته.من الان اطلاعات زیادی نسبت به این موضوع ندارم.
_چرا تصمیم نگرفتین که عکس هاتون رو در سی دی بذارین؟واقعا اسم های شما فقط تازه و نا آشنا هستن. دلیل این فروتنی چیه(!)
_ فکر کنم دلیلش تنبلیه.واقعا نیازی به انجام این کار ندیدیم و زیاد به این موضوع اهمیت نمیدیم.تمام چیزهای لازم در آلبوم بعدی ما خواهد بود.این تعجب آوره که ما هنوز از خودمون عکس نگرفتیم.
_من خیلی از آلبوم لذت بردم اما من متعجبم اگه شما واقعا از نوع صداهای آهنگ ها واقعا راضی باشین.اینو پرسیدم چون به نظر می آد استاندارد های شما بالا بوده و جای تعجب داره اگر واقعا تمام انتظارات شما برآورده شده باشه.
_تغییرات زیادی هست که می خواهیم روی آلبوم angelsبر صداها انجام بدیم و چیزهای بیشتری اضافه کنیم برای آلبوم اولمان اما در کل اینها چیزی بودند که ما اون زمان می خواستیم انجام بدیم و کاری رو که خواستیم روی آلبوم پیاده کردیم.مطمئنم که هرکسی می تونه چرت و پرت هایی بعدا درباره ی کارهایی که می تونسته انجام بده روی آلبوم های قبلیشان بگه.
_چه اتفاقی برای خواننده ی قبلی افتاد؟
_به لاپلند(ناحیه ی شمال و سوئد و نروژ و فنلاند و شوروی ...محل اقامت اقوام لامپ) رفته.از متال خسته بود.خوانندگی رو ترک کرده.ممکنه بیاد و برای آلبوم بعدی ما کنتل (؟) بزنه.
_آِیا در گروه کاری به زور انجام دادین؟
_کار غیر نظامی(کارهای دور از زور و اجبار)
_آیا تبعیضی که ضد روس ها یا آلمانی ها اونجا هست؟

_کی مردم اصولی جدید رو خواهند شنید؟
_امیدوارم آخر این ماه.ماخیلی زود شروع به کار می کنیم.به نظر می رسه 6تا آهنگ بسازیم.
